NFL: Vikings' Hicks to have surgery on triceps
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Minnesota Vikings right tackle Artis Hicks will have surgery on his injured right triceps this week.
Hicks said played through the injury since the first week of the season. He didn't play in the Vikings' 26-14 playoff loss to Philadelphia on Sunday.
Hicks said it wasn't the pain that kept him out, rather the muscle was simply too weak for him to be effective blocking.
The injury prevented him from lifting weights all season. He said he hasn't done a serious upper body workout since before the season opener against Green Bay, but expects to be ready when the Vikings begin their offseason program in March.
"My chances of overcoming this and being 100 percent are very, very high," he said.
