Preps: Former Connecticut coach sentenced in sex case

Associated Press

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A 29-year-old former Connecticut high school football coach has been sentenced to 46 months in prison on federal child sex charges.

Prosecutors say 29-year-old Jonathan DesRosier of Norwich had several explicit online chats with a person he believed was a 14-year-old girl, asking if she wanted to see him naked and learn to perform sexual acts.

He was arrested Nov. 16, 2007, by FBI agents and Milford police when he arrived at a bowling alley to meet the girl, who was actually an undercover police officer.

DesRosier, a former assistant football coach at Norwich Free Academy, was sentenced Monday by U.S. District Judge Peter Dorsey in New Haven. He had faced up to 57 months in prison after agreeing to a plea deal in October.
