Meals on Wheels gets $10,000 from Wal-Mart
Lanakila Meals on Wheels has received a $10,000 grant to support its services to seniors.
The money, from the Wal-Mart Foundation, will help reverse some cutbacks in services Lanakila Meals on Wheels was forced to make recently.
Brandon Mitsuda, deputy director of Meals on Wheels, said the grant will help the nonprofit "feed more of our senior citizens in need." He added that more money is needed, however, to help provide for more 100 seniors now on a waiting list for services.
Lanakila Meals on Wheels is Hawai'i's only islandwide meal provider for the elderly. It serves about 250,000 meals annually.
