Michigan bowler notches 300 games as righty, lefty

GRANDVILLE, Mich. — A Grand Rapids-area bowler who rolled a perfect game 17 years ago has repeated the feat — but with a twist.
Jeff Van Zytveld bowled left-handed in his first 300 game, in 1992. This time, he did it using his right hand.
Van Zytveld said Thursday he rolled his most recent perfect game on Feb. 14 during a tournament at Fairlanes Recreation Center in Grandville.
The 40-year-old Caledonia resident and natural right-hander started bowling with his left hand after undergoing elbow-reconstruction surgery in 1990.
Van Zytveld was a pitcher in the Los Angeles Dodgers' minor-league system when he blew out his right elbow while with Double-A San Antonio.
He switched back to right-handed bowling about eight years ago.
