High surf advisories posted for east-facing shores
Advertiser Staff
A high surf advisory issued by the National Weather Service is in effect until 6 a.m. Monday for the east-facing shores of all islands, which are expected to see surf above the advisory level of 6 to 8 feet.
Beach visitors should be prepared for large breaking waves, rip currents and localized beach erosion, the weather service said.
Elsewhere on Oahu today, the surf is expected to reach 5 to 7 feet along north-facing shores; 2 to 4 feet along west-facing shores; and 1 to 3 feet through along south-facing shores.
Outlook through Tuesday, Mar 3: The current northwest swell will lower rapidly overnight. The northeast swell will also be lowering through Thursday. However, the strong and gusty trade winds will maintain an above normal swell through at least Thursday. Otherwise, no significant swell is expected during the forecast period.
