WAIPI'O
Man arrested in Internet sex case involving boy, 15
A 28-year-old Waipi'o man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of enticing a boy for sex via the Internet and threatening to publish a nude photo of the boy if he did not perform sex acts on the man.
The man turned himself in at the main police station at 11 a.m. yesterday. He was booked for investigation of one count of first-degree electronic enticement of a minor, two counts of first-degree child abuse and two counts of extortion.
He remained in police custody last night pending charges.
Police said that from September to November 2007 a 15-year-old boy had been communicating with the suspect through a popular Web site. The suspect, police said, convinced the boy to provide him with a nude photo.
Police said the suspect used the photo against the youth for sexual favors. The case was reported to police and an investigation led police to the man.
