SYDNEY — Nathan Baggaley, a three-time world champion kayaker and Olympic silver medalist, pleaded guilty to manufacturing and supplying illegal drugs, News Limited reported Tuesday.

The 32-year-old Baggaley, who won two Olympic silver medals at the 2004 Athens Games, pleaded guilty to manufacturing ecstasy tablets and two counts of supplying a prohibited drug when he appeared Tuesday in Lismore Local Court, northern New South Wales state, the report on Goldcoast.com.au said.

His 26-year-old brother, Dru Anthony Baggaley, also reportedly pleaded guilty to one count each of manufacturing and supplying a prohibited drug.

The brothers, who were arrested in November 2007 after a police raid, will appear in Lismore District Court for sentencing on March 24.

Nathan Baggaley tested positive to two steroids — stanozolol and methindione — in September 2005 and was subsequently banned for 15 months by the Australian Canoe Federation.

The suspension was extended to two years by the International Canoe Federation. He was barred from competing at the Beijing Olympics because of pending criminal charges.
