NBA: Rockets' McGrady to have surgery today

HOUSTON — Houston Rockets star Tracy McGrady is having season-ending microfracture surgery on his left knee.
McGrady has been bothered all season by soreness and finally said last week he had decided to have the risky procedure. The team announced Monday that the procedure will take place on Tuesday in Chicago.
The team had never officially confirmed that McGrady would have the surgery, and general manager Daryl Morey said last week that the Rockets wanted to talk to McGrady about his decision.
McGrady has been consulting with doctors since the All-Star break. He's missed Houston's last four games and 21 overall this season because of lingering soreness in the knee, the aftermath of arthroscopic surgery last May.
The seven-time All-Star was averaging 15.6 points, five assists and 4.4 rebounds.
