Kaua'i police yesterday arrested a 20-year-old Wailua man for allegedly driving a truck over a woman sunbathing on a Wailua beach.

Police arrested Kawai Watanabe and charged him with second-degree negligent injury and reckless driving. He was released on bail, according to a Kaua'i County news release.

Jacqueline Bigno, 38, was sunbathing on a beach known as Kitchens near Lydgate Beach Park on Jan. 18 when a Nissan pickup truck with oversize tires ran over her.

She suffered a broken shoulder blade and spent four days in hospitals on Kaua'i and Honolulu before being discharged.
