Star-Bulletin to lay off 17 employees, switch to tabloid format

The Honolulu Star-Bulletin will lay off 17 newsroom employees and will put in place a wage freeze in wake of the economic downturn.
The Star-Bulletin reported on its Web site that the newspaper will convert from a broadsheet newspaper to tabloid format and will close its Neighbor Island bureaus.
