A man riding a moped died on the Big Island yesterday after he ran into the back of another vehicle on Alii Drive fronting Laaloa Beach in Keauhou.

Emergency responders arrived at the crash scene about 3:15 p.m. to find the man, who was not wearing a helmet, with severe head injuries. He was pronounced dead at Kona Community Hospital.

The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured, officials said.
