Weather: Scattered showers likely today, tomorrow

Showers associated with a shear line over the central Hawaiian islands will combine with the moisture along a weak surface trough near the eastern Big Island to bring increased shower coverage to the state today and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service forecast for the state.
These trade wind showers will mainly favor windward and mauka areas of the state, according to the forecast.
However, the stronger trades will carry some showers over to leeward sections of the smaller islands at times. The strong trades will continue through Wednesday before gradually diminishing later this week.
