Dixie State takes two from HPU

Deney Phommabout scored 18 points as Dixie State defeated Hawai'i Pacific, 77-73, last night at Blaisdell Arena to hand the Sea Warrior women's basketball team its first Pacific West Conference loss.
BreAnne Haslam added 14 points for the Red Storm (11-7, 4-1). Tiffany Wilson scored 22 points and Taylor Craig added 14 assists for the Sea Warriors (8-10, 5-1).

UH WINS OPENERS
The fourth-ranked University of Hawai'i women's water polo team opened the season yesterday with a pair of victories at the NorCal Cup tournament in Santa Clara, Calif.
Leonie van der Molen, Lisa van Raalte, Dagmar Genee, Ryan Swaner-Hanson, Saara Majuri and Carmen Eggens each scored two goals as UH routed Sonoma State, 14-1.
In UH's second match, van der Molen and Majuri each scored three goals and goalie Serena Bredin made 11 saves in an 11-7 win over UC Davis.

WICHMANN 4TH IN SHOT
University of Hawai'i senior Annett Wichmann, who placed third in the pentathlon Friday, finished fourth in the shot put yesterday at the University of Washington Invitational in Seattle.
Wichmann threw the shot 46 feet, 6 3/4 inches. On Friday, she scored an NCAA provisional mark of 3,919 points in the pentathlon.
Also yesterday, Emily Sheppard placed seventh in the high jump at 5 feet, 6 1/2 inches, and Anika Borden finished eighth in the weight throw with 53 feet, 11 inches.
