Woman, 26, hospitalized after injuries on trail hike
Kauai County fire rescue personnel yesterday afternoon airlifted a 26-year-old female visitor from Enterprise, Ala., from the Kalalau Trail due to injuries to her left ankle.
She was taken to Wilcox Hospital for treatment.
A fellow hiker contacted police dispatch about 3 p.m. and notified them about the injured person.
Two rescue specialists from the Líhu'e fire station and Air-1 flew to the Na Pali Coast and spotted the woman on the trail near the eight-mile marker.
The injured hiker was taken to Princeville Airport, where awaiting medics then transported her to Wilcox.
