DRESS UP

Looking for a hot little number to start the new year off with a bang? Check out local designer Roberta Oaks' Holiday Collection. The sexy silhouettes and natural materials, including bamboo and cotton, give a flattering look to almost every figure. One of her highlight pieces is the "Lacy Dress" (on sale for $130). The middle band in the design is made out of double layers of Lycra which hold in the junk. The delicately placed gathering also distracts away from your midsection. Visit the Roberta Oaks show room at 19 N. Pauahi St. from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday or e-mail info@robertaoaks.com for future flagship events.

WHITE PARTY

Missed a white Christmas? How about you join the all-white New Year's Eve Party at Apartm3nt? The annual white party has been a hit since 2005, when it began as one of Flash and Matty's Skyline Parties at the Hanohano room. The promoters are known for their posh parties, which encourage attendees to dress as fabulous as possible.

Think you can slip by wearing something not white? The security will escort you right out, because the rules to this event are strict. "Gray is not white, khaki is not white, white means white," says promoter Flash Hansen. We suggest you try the new Fashionista's Market shop on Bethel Street, Ala Moana Center, or any thrift store for white. We checked it out, and there is still plenty of white to be had.

The event will feature happy hour until 7 p.m., DJs, and a full kitchen menu until 12:30 a.m. Bottle service is available for $200, and reservations can be made by calling 955-9300. Doors open at 5 p.m.; free before 9 p.m., and $10 until 11 p.m. Apartm3nt, 1750 Kalakaua Ave. Century Center, third floor.

CULINARY FIREWORKS

If you're looking for a New Year's Eve date at a chic restaurant with a menu that will bring fireworks to your palete, then make your reservation at Azure Restaurant at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. The restaurant practically sits on the beach, and boasts a great view of the Waikiki fireworks show. The New Year's Eve fixed menu at $150 a person includes delicacies such as amuse bouche of Akolea Black Sturgeon, or choose from entrees like prime rib and veal cheek, or Venison En Sous Vide with fois gras. Sound fancy? Yes, it is, suitable for celebrating in style. Azure Restaurant, 2259 Kalakaua Ave.; 923-7311, www.royal-hawaiian.com.

They come in black and blue with a graceful swallowtail graphic. But you gotta hurry: there are only 300 pairs available, sold at Whole Foods and online at www.OrganikClothing.com for $28.

SALES & BARGAINS

• Those of you who weren't lucky enough to meet Betsey Johnson at her Ala Moana location this past week can still ride the wave of the excitement and benefit from the store's amazing after-Christmas sale. Through Jan. 4, take an additional 50 percent off of all reduced clothing, and 25 percent off full-priced clothing. Betsey Johnson, Ala Moana Center; 949-3500.

• If you crave bargains, you'll definitely want to be at Ala Moana Center on Jan. 1, when more than 40 retailers offer up "Happy Grab Bags" for Fukubukuro. Ala Moana Center's annual Fukubukuro event began in 2004, inspired by Japan's widespread New Year's Day event. The bags contain merchandise valued at twice the amount that they are sold for (a bag selling for $50 will contain at least $100 in merchandise at full retail value). These bags are available for one day only — this Friday. Each participating store will offer a limited number of bags containing products from that particular retailer. Seriously, you'll want to get there early — bags will be available while supplies last. This might be the perfect time to cash in your gift cards! Participating stores include Animation Magic, Anteprima Wirebag, Diesel, Emporio Armani, Fendi, Folli Follie, Le Grand Marqet, Local Motion, Locals Only and Valerie Joseph. Find out more at www.AlaMoanaCenter.com.

• It's worth the trek out to Waikele Premium Outlets to take advantage of major after-holiday sales. Even if you live in Hawai'i, no gal should be without a cotton cashmere sweater. Select styles are just $19.99 at Anne Klein. Can't afford Armani? Think again, think Armani Exchange and get 30 to 70 percent off until Jan. 10. Get hours and more details at www.premiumoutlets.com/waikele.

• Did you know Tommy Bahama has joined the ranks at Waikele? Believe it, the store is offering 50 percent off everything — excluding fragrance, CDs and clearance items. Tommy Bahama, Waikele Premium Outlets; 686-9030.
