WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Olympic gold medal gymnast Shawn Johnson is back in the gym as she considers returning to competition and making a run at the 2012 Olympics in London.

Her father, Doug Johnson, tells The Des Moines Register she began training at her hometown gym, Chow's Gymnastics in West Des Moines, about a week ago and is working out about every other day.

He says no decision on the Olympics has been made. Doug Johnson says Shawn wants to get back to the gym and back in shape.

Johnson won the gold medal in the balance beam during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Since the Olympics, she won "Dancing With the Stars," appeared on television shows and won the Sullivan Award, given to the country's top amateur athlete.
