Investigation continues into Häna coast helicopter crash
A National Transportation Safety Board investigator says it will be about a week before he writes a preliminary report on last week's crash-landing of a helicopter on Maui.
Wayne Pollack says work will continue this week at a Kahului Airport hangar, where the wreckage of the Aerospatiale AS350 was taken after it came down Wednesday on a remote Häna coastline.
The initial report was the Sunshine Helicopters chopper had experienced mechanical problems.
The accident happened as the pilot was undergoing a routine in-flight semiannual proficiency check with a Federal Aviation Administration inspector. Both were injured.
