Joint flying exercises planned on eve of Obama Christmas vacation
Hawaii Air National Guard F-15 Eagles, U.S. Coast Guard H-65 Dolphin helicopters and Civil Air Patrol Cessnas will fly together off the north coast of Kane'ohe Bay today as part of joint exercises, the Air Force announced.
The exercises are intended to improve coordination between the Department of Defense, Federal Aviation Administration and Department of Homeland Security, the Air Force said
Tuesday morning's exercise will be off the north coast of Oahu between Kaena Point and Pupukea. The aircraft will operate close to one another at certain times during the exercise.
The exercises come on the eve of an expected Christmas vacation by President Obama and his family, which could begin on Wednesday, depending on progress in Washington, D.C., on a national healthcare bill.
