RENO, Nev. — Luke Babbitt scored 29 points and Brandon Fields hit a 3-pointer with 4.3 seconds left to lead Nevada over Eastern Washington, 73-70, last night.

Fields finished with 17 points and Armon Johnson added 12 for the Wolf Pack (5-4).

Mark Dunn had 15 points, Kevin Winford scored 14 and Glen Dean had 13 points and 10 assists for the Eagles (4-6), who trailed the entire second half before tying the game 70-70 with 1:22 left on a 25-footer by Benny Valentine.

The Wolf Pack called time out with 26 seconds left, and Johnson found Fields on the right baseline for an open 3-pointer for the winner with 4.3 seconds left.

Dean's 3-point attempt at the buzzer fell short.

Babbitt had 19 points in the first half as Nevada led 37-35 at halftime.

Ahead 54-53 with 9:08 left, the Wolf Pack went on a 7-0 run as Babbitt and Johnson hit short jumpers and Fields converted a layup and free throw to make it 61-53.

But the Eagles chipped away, hitting four 3-pointers during a 17-9 run to tie the score at 70.

FRESNO STATE 68, UC DAVIS 57

Mike Ladd scored 18 points and Greg Smith added 17 as the host Bulldogs (5-5) pulled away down the stretch to defeat the Aggies (3-7).

Paul George added 14 points, nine rebounds and six steals for Fresno State, which shot 56.5 percent from the field. Joe Harden led UC Davis with 16 points.

DIVISION II

HAWAI'I PACIFIC 89, CHAMPION BAPTIST 55

Mike Helton scored 26 points and Norman Wells added 21 as the host Sea Warriors (5-3) beat the Tigers (7-13) last night at Mid-Pacific Institute gym.

C.J. Jackson added 17 points and 13 rebounds, and Ray Murdock had eight assists for HPU.

DRURY 98, CHAMINADE 49

Amanda Gibbons scored 15 points as all five of the Panthers (7-4) starters scored in double figures in a rout of the Silverswords (1-3) yesterday in the Hoop N Surf Tournament at Kílauea gym.

Samantha Saito scored 12 points, and Kellene Costello and Kayci Will each added 10 for Chaminade.
