HONOLULU — Former U.S. Rep. Ed Case is the first candidate to air a television ad in the race to succeed Rep. Neil Abercrombie.
The ad appeared Monday during the evening newscast on at least one Honolulu station.
Abercrombie said Friday he will resign his 1st Congressional District seat within weeks to devote full time to a campaign for governor.
Case, fellow Democrat state Sen. President Colleen Hanabusa and Republican Honolulu Councilman Charles Djou are planning to run in a special election to fill the remainder of Abercrombie’s term. They will also seek the seat in November’s general election.
Neither Hanabusa nor Djou are currently airing ads.
