Student housing residents report series of burglaries
Residents in University of Hawai'i-Mänoa student housing are being warned about a series of burglaries in the buildings.
A spokesman for the university says school officials sent out an e-mail alert to students and staff members after four burglaries were reported last week. The latest break-ins happened after a rash of burglaries was reported in October.
UH spokesman Gregg Takayama says burglars have been targeting walk-up apartments with easily accessible windows.
He says the burglars have been removing window screens, reaching in and taking items off desks at night while students are asleep.
In some cases, mp3 players and laptop computers were stolen.
