A pair of sleek, shifty and swift football players, Farrington running back Harry Tuimaseve and Kahuku defensive end Kona Schwenke, earned top postseason honors in the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red Conference after a recent voting by league coaches.

Tuimaseve, a 5-foot-11, 177-pound senior, was named Offensive Player of the Year and Schwenke, a 6-4, 220-pound senior, was named Defensive Player of the Year.

In six East games, Tuimaseve rushed for 704 yards on 133 carries (5.2 ypc) and six touchdowns. That included 144 yards against Kailua, 135 vs. Castle, 118 against Kaimuki and 106 vs. Roosevelt.

His smooth, fluid style allowed him to slip tackles at the line of scrimmage, dart into the secondary and break tackles downfield.

Schwenke helped anchor a Kahuku defense that pitched three shutouts and allowed only 32 points in six regular-season games (5.3 ppg). No East team scored more than 14 points against the Red Raiders.

Farrington led the way with seven players selected to the Red East all-star first team, including three on offense: Tuimaseve, and offensive linemen Joseph Siliga and Justin Momosea.

Castle also placed three on the first-team offense: quarterback Jaymason Lee, receiver Shaydon Kehano and utility player Garrett Paredes. Kahuku and Kailua each was represented by two players on offense.

Kahuku placed offensive linemen Steven Si'ilata and Jase To'omalatai, and Kailua was represented by running back Clinton Aina and offensive lineman Jordan DeCorte.

Receivers Solomon Dixon of McKinley and Agaese Tago of Roosevelt round out the first-team offense.

Farrington and Kahuku led the all-star defense with four players each.

The Governors placed defensive lineman VJ Fehoko, linebacker Seth Ilae, and defensive backs Alvin Fa'amausili and Vaughn Tomas.

The Red Raiders were represented by Schwenke, defensive lineman Hauoli Jamora, linebacker Ben Mamea and defensive back Johnny Tupuola.

Castle placed linebacker Paredes and utility player Shaydon Kehano, and Kaimuki lineman Viliami Fonokalafi and Kailua defensive back Aina round out the first-team defense.

Kahuku's Reggie Torres was named Coach of the Year after guiding the Red Raiders to a 6-0 regular season, highlighted by a 16-14 comeback win over Farrington.
