The porn family feud that played out in federal court this week ended in a draw yesterday when a jury ruled that Larry Flynt's estranged nephews infringed on their famous uncle's trademark when they launched their own smut business, but did not invade his privacy and are not liable for the substantial attorney fees both sides rang up.
The jury of four men and four women in Los Angeles rendered its verdict after a four-day trial, during which they sat next to a big-screen TV used to repeatedly display blown-up photos of porn DVD boxes featuring naked women on the front and people engaged in all sorts of contortions on the back.
They listened as Flynt, who was paralyzed by a white-supremacist sniper in 1978, sat in his gold-plated, velvet-lined wheelchair on Tuesday and Wednesday and testified that in the porn business his name stands for quality. His nephews, he said, were besmirching it by putting that name on "trashy" adult movies.
PALIN BOLDLY GOES UP AGAINST SHATNER
Sarah Palin made a surprise appearance on "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" yesterday — and turned the tables on actor William Shatner.
In recent appearances on the late-night show, Shatner has adopted a serious pose to recite some of Palin's less serious observations.
Yesterday, he read passages from Palin's blockbuster "Going Rogue," including ones about rapper Kid Rock and stalking sheep.
Then it was Palin's turn to read from Shatner's autobiography, "Up Till Now." The former Alaska governor's selections included one in which Shatner talks about visiting an African elephant "in my underwear."
After the readings, there appeared to be no hard feelings. The two left the stage arm-in-arm.

EX-PLAYMATE, COLTS PLAYER HAVE NEW SON
Former Playboy Playmate Kendra Wilkinson and her NFL husband Hank Baskett are the new parents of a baby boy.
Wilkinson's publicist says Hank Randall Baskett IV weighed in at 9 pounds, 5 ounces yesterday in Indianapolis, where his father is a wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts. It's the first child for the 24-year-old reality TV star ("The Girls Next Door"), a former Hugh Hefner girlfriend, and the 27-year-old Baskett.
