A&B sells California shopping center

Alexander & Baldwin Inc. has sold a California shopping center, bringing commercial property sales proceeds this year to more than $100 million for the local company.
A&B did not disclose a sales price for the 104,600-square-foot shopping center in the Southern California resort community of Indian Wells. A&B bought the property called The Village at Indian Wells in 1997 for $13 million.
Norbert Buelsing, president of A&B's real estate division, said the sale price was favorable.
CASTLE MEDICAL CENTER 'BEST IN VALUE'
Castle Medical Center has been recognized by the Hospital Value Index with a "best in value" award, ranking it among the top tier of hospitals nationally in quality, affordability, efficiency and patient satisfaction.
The Kailua hospital said the Hospital Value Index recognized it for best in value, best in state and best in market.
Data Advantage LLC, which produced the value index, studied 4,500 general hospitals nationwide using publicly available data.

16% OF ISLE ONLINE SHOPPERS SEEK COUPONS
A Web site that offers coupon codes for online stores says 16 percent of Internet shoppers from Hawai'i search for coupons before making a purchase.
The study, using Web site traffic analysis and a survey of 7,500 people, found that coupon use is increasing — with November searches on Google rising 30 percent from a year earlier.
The Web site, Couponcodes4u.com, said roughly one out of every six online shoppers from Hawai'i looks for coupon codes when buying from Internet stores. The coupon codes typically get consumers a discount at Web stores.
SOLAR POWER DEAL AT KAUA'I MISSILE RANGE
The Su-Mo/Nan Joint Venture has been awarded a $6.69 million contract to install photovoltaic systems on 10 buildings at the Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kaua'i.
The joint-venture partners were selected from five proposals received by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command at Pearl Harbor. The work is to be completed by June 2011.
