Honolulu Marathon registration eclipses last year’s
A total of 23,469 runners are signed up for Sunday’s Honolulu Marathon.
That’s up by 237 over last year, when numbers dipped, marathon officials said.
The number of Japanese runners registered stands at 14,402, nearly identical to last year’s count.
The 37th annual Honolulu Marathon will get under way at 5 a.m. near Ala Moana Center. Runners will make their way through downtown, back through Waikiki to Hawaii Kai and back to the finish line at Kapiolani Park.
Residents should expect street closures lasting up to several hours all along the race course.
