VIDEO: Book sale to benefit high school athletes
A favorite holiday treat may produce sweet returns for the Hawai'i High School Athletic Association's "SOS" (Save Our Sports) campaign to help public schools offset recent budget cuts.
Shokudo Japanese Restaurant and Bar will donate $1 from every sale of its signature "Honey Toast" dessert throughout December and January to the SOS Fund, which has so far raised $1,365,670 to assist public school athletic departments, which are operating with less than 64 percent of its state allocations compared to 2008-2009.
Shokudo's menu describes Honey Toast as "thick white toast cut out and cubed, drizzled with honey and topped with vanilla ice cream."
Krater 96 ad account manager Jaime Hung, who is working with Shokudo on the promotion, said Shokudo usually sells 400 Honey Toast orders per week.
To contribute to the SOS Fund, make a check payable to "HHSAA SOS Account" and send it to HHSAA, P.O. Box 62029, Honolulu, HI 96839, or visit www.sportshigh.com
