Kalanianaole Highway between the upper Makapuu Lookout parking lot and Makapuu Beach Park will be closed for an extra night Wednesday night through Thursday morning because of delays in safety improvement work.

State Department of Transportation officials said last week that the additional night-time work is necessary because of “delays caused by heavy rains and other complications.”
The highway will be closed tonight from 9:30 p.m. through 5:30 a.m. tomorrow and again at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday through 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
The $7.8 million projects includes the construction of a rockfall impact barrier, repairs to an existing retaining wall, slope stabilization, pavement work and installation of electrical cables and conduits.
