Heat's Wade is still 0-for-Denver, 114-96

Associated Press

DENVER — The Pepsi Center remains Dwyane Wade's personal house of horrors.

The Miami Heat star fell to 0-6 in Denver when Carmelo Anthony and Nene led the Nuggets to a 114-96 rout last night.

Denver is the only city where Wade has never won in his seven NBA seasons.

"That's a great thing," Anthony said. "Obviously, we as a team are doing something really, really good out there."

Wade, who snapped an 0-11 skid at Indiana earlier this season, had high hopes for another breakthrough against the Nuggets — 96-88 losers last month in Miami.

Despite his 25 points, this one wasn't close. The Nuggets led by 29 before both coaches emptied their benches early in the fourth quarter.

"I don't know. They're better than us in this building," Wade said. "They're better than us a majority of the time we've been here."

Anthony, the league's leading scorer, led the Nuggets with 22 points, and five of his teammates also reached double figures.

Anthony, the only player in the NBA to score at least 20 points in every game, was stuck at 17 early in the fourth quarter when Aaron Afflalo was seated beneath the scorer's desk, ready to check in for him. But Anthony sank two free throws and then hit a 3-pointer before the next dead ball, extending his streak.

ROCKETS 111, WARRIORS 109

Aaron Brooks hit two free throws with 2.1 seconds left, helping visiting Houston rally for its eighth straight win over Golden State, spoiling coach Don Nelson's return.

Nelson isn't nearly himself yet, still feeling the effects of the pneumonia that kept him under quarantine and away from his team for a week and a half. Nelson hasn't decided whether he'll go on the team's upcoming five-game trip.

CELTICS 90, SPURS 83

Kevin Garnett scored 20 points, Ray Allen added 15 and visiting Boston won its sixth straight, while stopping San Antonio's five-game winning streak. The Celtics improve to an NBA-best 8-1 away from home.

NOTES

Jazz: Utah forward Matt Harpring says his comeback attempt to play this season is over and his career may be as well. The 11-year veteran has never completely recovered from an infection that developed after ankle surgery in the summer of 2008.
