Jodo Shin Buddhists will mark anniversaries

A series of special events are scheduled to mark a double commemoration — of the 750th memorial remembrance of the founder of Jodo Shin Buddhism, Shinran Shonin, and the 120th anniversary of the founding of Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii.
Attending will be head abbot and spiritual leader, Gomonshu Koshin Ohtani and his wife, as well as other dignitaries from Japan, Mainland U.S., Canada and South America.
Events include a banquet on Sept. 5 and a commemoration service on Sept. 6, both at Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom; a free, public tree planting and peace celebration Sept. 4 at Foster Botanical Garden (call for reservations, required); and dedication ceremony for Pacific Buddhist Academy High School's future facilities.

ST. ANDREW'S TO HOLD TAIZE PRAYER CIRCLE
The Episcopal Cathedral of St. Andrew will hold a Taize Prayer Circle at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Taize is a relaxing meditative form of prayer, originally developed by a monastic community in Taize, France.
The free event combines characteristic Taize chant, music and prayer.
The event will be repeated Sept. 23 and Oct. 28.

WORKSHOP TEACHES KEIKI MONEY MANAGEMENT
"On the Job Training: Teaching Children Money Management Skills," a workshop hosted by 3 Financial Group, will be offered at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Unity Church of Hawai'i.
