CFB: USC starting C O’Dowd dislocates kneecap

LOS ANGELES — Southern California center Kristofer O’Dowd could be out for a few weeks after dislocating his right kneecap during a scrimmage.
O’Dowd is likely to be replaced in practice by Alex Parsons, a senior who began his career with the Trojans as a defensive lineman. Parsons started 10 games at right guard last season before filling in at center during spring ball while O’Dowd recovered from shoulder surgery.
O’Dowd, a junior who started every game for the Trojans last season, was injured during Monday night’s scrimmage at the Coliseum. He sustained the same injury in 2007, missing four games during his freshman year.
O’Dowd underwent further tests Tuesday while his teammates practiced.
