Hurricane Guillermo is now Tropical Storm Guillermo, the Central Pacific Hurricane Center reported last night.

Guillermo's maximum sustained winds dropped to about 70 mph last night, with higher gusts, and is expected to weaken further over the next couple of days, the Central Pacific Hurricane Center said.

As of 11 p.m., Guillermo was about 815 miles east of Hilo and moving west-northwest at 15 mph.

It's expected to gradually turn northwest over the next few days, putting it on a track that would have Guillermo "well to the northwest of the Hawaiian Islands," according to the center.

Forecasters have said the storm is not expected to have any direct impact on the state's weather.

However, it may cause hot muggy conditions and high surf on windward shores by midweek.

Last week, the state braced for Hurricane Felicia, which at one time was a Category 4 hurricane.

Felicia did not make landfall as a hurricane — or even as a tropical storm.

But Felicia did bring humid conditions to the Islands — followed by wind and rain.
