3 hikers lost in forest area found after phoning for help
Hawai'i County fire rescue personnel located and retrieved three lost hikers Wednesday in a heavily forested area in Pahoa.
The hikers used a cell phone to call for help. Firefighters determined their location — about 300 yards off Kaohe Homestead Road — and cut a trail into the forest to where the hikers were.
