Aerosmith has canceled the remainder of its summer tour.

The band's publicist MSO said in a statement issued late yesterday that the tour is canceled because of injuries that frontman Steven Tyler suffered when he fell off the stage during an Aug. 5 performance in South Dakota.

Tyler broke his left shoulder and needed 20 stitches in his head.

"Words can't express the sadness I feel for having to cancel this tour," guitarist Joe Perry said in the statement. Perry thanked the band's loyal fans for sticking by them, adding that the band hopes "we can get the Aerosmith machine up and running again as soon as possible."

THE CURIOUS CASE OF CANDIDATE PITT

The idea of Brad Pitt running for New Orleans mayor has generated a lot buzz around the city even though he isn't eligible.

It also generated some laughs for the actor yesterday in a television interview.

Many residents have been sporting "Brad Pitt for Mayor" T-shirts since mid-June, when a Tulane University professor and two brothers who own a New Orleans T-shirt shop launched a quasi-campaign to persuade Pitt to run.

Pitt said yesterday on NBC's "Today" show that he's noticed the shirts, but he laughed off the idea of running. "I don't have a chance."

He joked: "I'm running on the gay marriage, no religion, legalization and taxation of marijuana platform."

CNN MOGUL ROLLS OUT OBAMA BURGER

A Bozeman, Mont., restaurant is saluting the president's fondness for cheeseburgers by offering a Barack Obama Burger today to honor his visit to the area.

The $10 bison-meat burger at Ted's Montana Grill has three cheeses: American, cheddar and monterey jack. It comes with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles, a side of spicy mustard, french fries and a small American flag.

Ted's Montana Grill is owned by CNN founder Ted Turner.

Organizers expect as many as 500 people at a rally today in Belgrade, Mont., where Obama is bringing his health care town hall tour.

SPEARS LENDS LIKENESS TO FACEBOOK GIFTS

The first celebrity gifts on Facebook are now for sale, and who is at the forefront of this e-commerce revolution? Britney, of course.

Pop star Britney Spears, who is described on her blog as an "international icon," has loaned her likeness or related images to virtual gifts that Facebook users can send to one another.

A couple of them show her singing, a couple of others show her stage outfits and one hints at a political message by showing a rainbow-colored balloon labeled "Britney Pride" (Spears has spoken out in support of gay marriage).

One gift is free, the others cost $2. All are limited editions. A "Happy Birthday" symbol with her signature is available to the first 500,000 buyers.
