Get a rare glimpse into the island fashions that helped shape Hawai'i's style over the first five decades of statehood, in "50 Years of Fashion in Hawai'i." The exhibition, in partnership with the Hawaii Fashion Incubator (Hifi), features 50 colorful garments from the University of Hawai'i-Manoa's archived Costume Collection, including a '50s Alfred Shaheen aloha dress, '60s Miss Hawaii women's bathing suits and feather hats, a '70s Elizabeth Arden beaded maxi skirt, and much more.

It's open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Aug. 31, in the space between Nordstrom and Design Within Reach on the third level.

ACID DOLLS PARTY

Acid Dolls (www.aciddolls.com) has been rebranded and relaunches its line of party dresses and shoes from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday at the Honolulu Design Center.

Designer Cindy King and stylist Crystal Pancipanci are the partners behind the line. Their motto: "Unleash the cuteness."

A fashion show will debut the spring/summer 2010 collection, Acid Dolls Urban Street Couture. The show at 8 p.m. in the Cupola Theatre will be preceded by the introduction of the winner of the Glam Goddess Giveaway (co-sponsored by The Honolulu Advertiser). She will walk the runway with her new look.

Pancipanci and Bernadette Baraquio of "Living Local TV" will present a makeover package of prizes to the Glam Goddess winner.

Tickets to the fashion show, $25 to $45, include an after-party, 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.; www.pancistyle.com.

FALL TRENDS

Neiman Marcus will showcase its top 10 fall trends with informal modeling and visual merchandising this weekend and Aug. 20-23. Check out the store's interpretations of the color red, leopard prints, hardware on handbags and other hot and haute fall trends.

DIOR HOMME TO OPEN

Dior Homme, a perennial darling of fashion editors in the U.S. and Europe, will open Wednesday within the existing Christian Dior flagship store at Ala Moana Center.

The 500-square-foot boutique will feature a full offering of Dior Homme, including fall 2009 ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories.

The mood for the Dior Homme section is set with tones of midnight black and crisp white.

AMAZON ACCESSORIES AT FLOTERIOR

When Floterior reconfigured itself, it wasn’t just its space that changed; it also redefined its merchandise. In addition to its gorgeous silk flowers, it now carries a rack of clothing from East Honolulu Clothing Co. and La Tagua accessories from the Amazon rainforest.
We love La Tagua for its eco-friendliness, of course, but also for the way it looks. The unusual “palm ivory” seeds are dyed to create fabulous neutrals and brights, matte and shiny surfaces. The color combinations are unusual too; our faves are the cherry red, and the chartreuse and eggplant. Prices for the key rings, bracelets, necklaces and pendants range from $30 to $175. Find Floterior at 1129 Bethel St. (across from the Hawaii Theatre). 735-2222, www.floterior.com.
