NFL: Rookie CB Malcolm Jenkins reports to Saints, struggles with heat

METAIRIE, La. — While Malcolm Jenkins struggled with the heat in first day of practice with the New Orleans Saints he’s pleased to be on the field with his contract holdout behind him.
New Orleans’ first-round draft pick agreed to terms on a five-year contract worth about $19 million late Sunday night. The rookie cornerback arrived at practice Monday morning after missing the first 10 days of camp.
Temperatures approached the 90s and humidity was nearly 70 percent during practice, when trainers briefly took Jenkins aside, removed his pads, and poured water over him to cool him down.
Meanwhile, quarterback Drew Brees was back at practice after being excused from Saturday’s scrimmage for a family matter.
