A 76-year-old male visitor died today in an apparent drowning at a Poipu resort swimming pool, authorities said.

The drowning occurred at 1:53 p.m. A bystander saw the man at the bottom of the pool and brought him to the surface. A bystander then contacted a hotel security guard who started CPR on the man.
The man was taken to Wilcox Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
