NFL: Cowboys’ Spencer eager to go QB-hunting with Ware

SAN ANTONIO — Dallas Cowboys linebacker Anthony Spencer is hoping for a better season after an injury kept him out of the starting lineup last year.
Spencer got off to a great start in training camp a year ago and then hurt a knee. He needed surgery and missed the entire preseason, plus two of the first three games. A hamstring problem cost him two more games. He never got the starting job back, finishing the season with only 1› sacks.
Now Spencer is going into his third year. He’s healthy, experienced and faces no competition.
He also plays opposite the NFL’s reigning sacks leader, DeMarcus Ware. That means offensive coordinators might not focus on Spencer.
