Big Island man who died after crash had medical condition

HILO — Hawaii County police say an autopsy has determined that a medical condition caused the death of a man involved in a single-vehicle crash May 13.
Christopher S. Bortz, 26, of Kurtistown died after crashing his car in the Hawaiian Acres subdivision.
Because Bortz’s death was not the result of injuries sustained in the crash, police have reduced the number of traffic fatalies on the Big Island this year from 14 to 13.
