A high surf advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. today and a higher than normal tide is expected this afternoon.
EMS Department Bryan Cheplic said this morning that waves of 6 to 8 feet are breaking on the south shore. Beachgoers should heed all warning signs and check with lifeguards before going into the water today, Cheplic said.
He also said a higher than normal high tide of 2.2 feet is expected at 2:30 p.m. today. There is a possibility that water will again go over Farrington Highway in Waianae.
