Historian chronicles Hawaii hospitals
Dr. Benjamin B. C. Young, considered the most knowledgeable scholar of the history of Island medicine and medical education, will give an illustrated talk to the Hawaiian Historical Society tomorrow, Thursday, at 7:30 p.m. (a business meeting precedes the talk at 7 p.m.) at the Kana'ina Building (Old Archives Building, 'Iolani Palace grounds).
"The History of Hawai'i Hospitals" will cover the reasons for the establishment of the various medical facilities here, and how these factors reflect the political and social history of the Islands.
The Society honored Young in 2008 as a Distinguished Historian and he has served as a trustee on their board.
