SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Giants recalled right-hander Osiris Matos from Triple-A Fresno before Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Matos had a 1.04 ERA in eight appearances with the Grizzlies. He had a 1-2 record with a 4.79 ERA in 20 relief appearances with the Giants last year.

Infielder Eugenio Velez was optioned to Fresno to make room for Matos. Velez was batting .154 in nine games with no extra base hits.
