SAN FRANCISCO — Maybe the opponents' uniform jogged some memories for Randy Johnson, who pitched most of his best games for Arizona over the years.

He suggested it's just competitive nature.

The Big Unit took a no-hitter into the seventh inning against his former team, and the San Francisco Giants held on to beat the Diamondbacks, 2-0, yesterday.

"Sometimes you have to put blinders on when it comes to certain teams," Johnson said. "I just wanted to pitch well. It's nice to go out there and feel like I'm contributing after the last two starts."

Johnson, who allowed one hit in seven innings, was perfect through four. He faced the minimum through six and stranded Augie Ojeda at third base after the shortstop doubled to open the seventh.

"The leadoff double changes the complexion of the game," Johnson said. "They had the heart of their order coming up and you have to make your pitches. We got a run and I felt I could make it stand up."

The 45-year-old Johnson (1-2) got his 296th win in his first start against the Diamondbacks, with whom he spent eight seasons. Bob Howry pitched the eighth and Brian Wilson got the last three outs for his second save.

"It was beautiful," Wilson said. "It was a nice day and Randy was out there dominating. He proved he can still do it."

Travis Ishikawa's bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the fourth drove in Randy Winn with the game's first run. Bengie Molina, Aaron Rowand and Pablo Sandoval opened the eighth with consecutive singles and Molina scored when pinch hitter Rich Aurilia grounded into a double play.

PHILLIES 5, PADRES 4:

Raul Ibanez hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning to lift host Philadelphia over San Diego. Ryan Howard started Philadelphia's winning rally with a leadoff single against Edwin Moreno (0-1), who was in because closer Heath Bell had worked three consecutive days. Ibanez followed by hitting a 2-0 pitch into the right-field stands.

DODGERS 14, ROCKIES 2:

Matt Kemp hit a grand slam and a solo homer to spur host Los Angeles to its eighth straight win by beating Colorado. Andre Ethier and Orlando Hudson each drove in three runs for Los Angeles, which has won its first six home games for the first time since the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers started out 8-0 at Ebbets Field in Jackie Robinson's rookie year.

NATIONALS 7, MARLINS 4:

Cody Ross hit the tying homer in the eighth inning, then hit a three-run double in the ninth to give visiting Florida its seventh straight victory by beating Washington. Leo Nunez (2-0) worked the eighth and Matt Lindstrom pitched the ninth for his third save.

REDS 4, ASTROS 2:

Pitcher Micah Owings hit a pinch-hit, two-run double in the seventh inning to lead Cincinnati over host Houston. Edinson Volquez (2-1) struck out seven in six innings for Cincinnati, yielding one run and four hits with five walks. Francisco Cordero pitched the ninth for his fourth save in four tries.

BRAVES 11, PIRATES 1:

Martin Prado and David Ross hit three-run homers to support Javier Vazquez's six shutout innings, and visiting Atlanta snapped a five-game losing streak by beating host Pittsburgh. Vazquez (1-1) struck out eight, gave up five hits and walked one.

BREWERS 4, METS 2:

Mike Cameron homered against his former team and Todd Coffey escaped a pair of late jams during an eight-out save, helping visiting Milwaukee avoid the sweep at New York. Jeff Suppan (1-2) pitched into the seventh inning, allowing eight hits and two runs.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

YANKEES 7, INDIANS 3:

Pinch-hitter Jorge Posada's drive to right in the seventh inning was ruled a two-run homer by video replay, as host New York spoiled former teammate Carl Pavano's return. Posada sent a high fly to right off Cleveland's Jensen Lewis (1-2) with one out, and the ball was deflected off a fan and back into play. Outfielder Trevor Crowe ran toward the infield indicating a fan interfered, and Indians manager Eric Wedge came out to dispute the call, before replay upheld the homer.

RED SOX 2, ORIOLES 1:

Jon Lester pitched seven shutout innings to lead host Boston to its fourth straight win by beating Baltimore. Lester (1-2) held the Orioles to four singles while striking out nine.

RANGERS 6, ROYALS 5:

Michael Young hit a leadoff homer in the ninth inning to help host Texas rally past Kansas City. Young ripped a 1-0 pitch from Kyle Farnsworth (0-3) into the seats in left-center for his first career game-winning homer.

TIGERS 8, MARINERS 2:

Rick Porcello shut down host Seattle for seven innings in just his second major league start, retiring his final 14 batters, and Ramon Santiago had a career-high five RBIs for Detroit. Porcello (1-1) gave up one run and five hits.

BLUE JAYS 1, ATHLETICS 0:

Ricky Romero (2-0) pitched seven sharp innings, striking out a career-high six and allowing only four hits as host Toronto beat Oakland. Lyle Overbay singled in Kevin Millar in the second inning for the only run of the game.

TWINS 3, ANGELS 1:

Glen Perkins (1-1) scattered four hits over eight innings, guiding host Minnesota to a three-game sweep of Los Angeles. Joe Nathan notched his third save with a hitless ninth.

WHITE SOX 12, RAYS 2:

Gavin Floyd took a shutout into the seventh inning, and Carlos Quentin and Jim Thome hit back-to-back homers in the eighth inning to lead Chicago past host Tampa Bay. Floyd (2-1) allowed Ben Zobrist's two-run homer in the seventh, and six hits in seven innings.
