Woman killed after speeding car slams into power pole
A woman died early yesterday morning in a traffic accident at Hawaiian Paradise Park on the Big Island, police said.
The accident happened at Paradise Drive and 25th Avenue when a speeding car hit a power pole. The call came in at 6:35 a.m., police said.
The driver, a woman in her 20s or 30s, was dead at the scene. A front-seat passenger was treated for minor injuries at the scene and released.
The crash knocked down high voltage power lines and HELCO, Hawaiian Tel and Oceanic Cable crews were repairing the damage.
