Once again, Jason "Mayhem" Miller has won over Hawai'i's fight fans.

Once again, he did it by defeating one of Hawai'i's top contenders.

Miller won the Kingdom MMA middleweight championship with a convincing choke-submission victory over Wai'anae's Kala Kolohe Hose last night.

A crowd of around 3,000 at the Blaisdell Center Arena watched the inaugural show of the Kingdom MMA organization, which is run by longtime Hawai'i promoter T. Jay Thompson.

"I love this; I love all these people screaming my name," Miller said. "That's why I came back to fight in Hawai'i. I missed this and I'm glad it's back."

Miller took Hose to the mat one minute into the first round, then unleashed a series of punches. Miller eventually worked his way to Hose's back, then applied a rear naked choke.

Hose submitted 2 minutes, 23 seconds into the first round. It was scheduled for five 5-minute rounds.

"I knew it was over once I took him down," Miller said. "I think his lone chance was to tag me in stand up and that didn't happen. I felt one hard punch from him and it didn't hurt me, so I was like 'OK, I got this.' Then he gave me the opportunity to take out his legs, and that was basically the end of the fight."

Miller improved to 22-6, including 10-1 in bouts staged in Hawai'i. His list of victims includes Egan Inoue, Falaniko Vitale, Ronald Jhun, Mark Moreno, and now, Hose.

Miller was fighting in Hawai'i for the first time in more than two years. Most of his recent fights were in Japan, and he has also become host of the MTV hit show "Bully Beatdown."

"Like I said before, I'm a fighter first," Miller said. "You believe me now?"

Hose, the middleweight (185 pounds) champion of the Icon Sport organization, dropped to 7-3.

Miller shoved Hose during the pre-fight weigh-in Friday, but he said that he had no hard feelings going into last night's fight.

"I was angry at the world because I had to lose a little more weight, like 0.2 of a pound," Miller said. "I just took it out on him, that's all. You really don't think straight when your water is low like that. (Last night) I made sure I fought smart and I fought well."

Miller said he will now try to fight in both Hawai'i and Japan.

In the semi-main event, Ricky Wallace defeated Brandon Pieper with a rear naked choke, 44 seconds into the first round of a lightweight (155 pounds) bout.

In a professional grappling bout, Rylan Lizares defeated Ronald Jhun with an ankle lock, 4:01 into the first round. No striking was allowed during the bout, and the only way to win was via submission.
