While on tour in Japan, Irish-American punk band Flogging Molly's accordian player Matt Hensley took a few minutes to answer some random question we had for him. The rules? He had to answer them quick-fire style. No deep thoughts. No contemplation. Just answers.
Flogging Molly, which just released its latest album, "Float," returns to Honolulu for a show at Pipeline Café Saturday night.
TGIF: Let's start this off right: What are you wearing?
An Innes T-shirt and Innes jeans and my Macbeth shoes.
TGIF: When you're on tour, what's the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning?
I think about my family and about my bar.
TGIF: You are allowed to tour in only one country for the remainder of your musical career, which country do you pick?
Holland. The people are super friendly and we are really well-received there.
TGIF: What's a Japanese word or phrase that you know well enough to actually use in Japan?
Kampai! (Cheers!)
TGIF: Why do you suppose people in Hawai'i love you so much?
Hopefully they appreciate that we are a sincerely authentic rockin' band.
TGIF: If you were invited to perform on "American Idol," would you do it?
No.
TGIF: Finish this sentence: Two punk rockers arrive at the Pearly Gates...
Impossible. All punk rockers are going to hell.
TGIF: Would you ever consider doing an album of, say, Michael Jackson covers, just for the challenge that it presents?
TGIF: You're running for U.S. president. Who's your running mate?
Colin Powell.
TGIF: Johnny Cash or Joe Strummer?
Joe Strummer.
TGIF: Guinness or Killian's?
Guinness.
TGIF: Ireland or America?
America.
TGIF: St. Patrick's Day or Christmas morning?
St. Patrick's Day.
