Jurors deliberating fate of defendant in stabbing case
Jurors yesterday began deliberations in the murder trial of Glenn Keohokapu Jr., accused in the June 8, 2008 stabbing death of a 19-year-old man outside a Kane'ohe karaoke bar.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Kristine Yoo used her closing argument to attack Keohokapu's testimony Tuesday that he acted in self defense and that the victim, Steven Wilcox, "walked into the knife" during the altercation.
Given the placement of the fatal stab wound, she said, Wilcox would have had to have been standing on his head when the fatal blow was struck.
Defense attorney Benjamin Ignacio argued to jurors that Wilcox was the aggressor that night and that he had armed himself with a set of brass knuckles, later found in his belongings by police.
Keohokapu acted in self-defense and did not intend to kill Wilcox, Ignacio said.
