NEW YORK — Jamie Foxx has apologized to teen star Miley Cyrus for a radio routine in which he urged the 16-year-old to "make a sex tape and grow up."
When the subject was raised on the "Tonight" show Tuesday, Foxx apologized and said: "I didn't mean it maliciously." Foxx noted to Jay Leno: "Sometimes as comedians, you know, we go a little too far."
Foxx talked about Cyrus on his Sirius radio show after someone brought up the singer's recent feud with Radiohead. Foxx said: "Who is Miley Cyrus? The one with all the gums? She needs to get a gum transplant!"
ALLEN ADDS ACCUSATIONS OF DIRTY TRICKS
NEW YORK — Actor-director Woody Allen has fired back against American Apparel's effort to drag his personal life into a civil court case, saying the company is harassing him.
Lawyers for the 73-year-old Allen filed court papers yesterday, saying the clothing company isn't playing fair by trying to expose his family life, personal finances and career.
Allen filed suit against the company last year for putting his image on its billboards in Hollywood and New York and on a Web site. Trial begins in May.
'IDOL' JUDGING FORMAT MAY SWITCH BACK
NEW YORK — Kara Dioguardi says the two-judge format could be a one-time thing on "American Idol."
Tuesday's show switched things up by allowing only a pair of judges to review each singer because of time constraints. But Dioguardi, the fourth addition to the judges' panel, expects the series will return to normal next week, giving everyone a chance to chime in.
Dioguardi says she learned of the format change shortly before the telecast. She says it was a "safety" measure because last week's performance show ran over schedule. Simon Cowell blamed her and Paula Abdul for talking too much.
HASSELBACK OK AFTER BIKER HIT-AND-RUN
NEW YORK — Elisabeth Hasselbeck says she feels fine after trying to hail a cab from a Manhattan sidewalk and getting hit by a bike instead.
The pregnant co-host of ABC's "The View" joked about the hit-and-run incident on yesterday's show, noting that whatever the speeding courier was carrying, it must have been delivered on time.
She told viewers that afterward, she sent a reassuring message from her phone to her husband, former NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck. Then she posted an update on the Twitter Web site: "The belly is OK."
