Jurors deliberating in Kaneohe bar stabbing trial

Advertiser Staff

Jurors have begin deliberations in the murder trial of Glenn Keohokapu Jr., accused in the June 8, 2008 stabbing death of a 19-year-old man outside a Kaneohe karaoke bar.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Kristine Yoo used her closing argument to attack Keohokapu's testimony yesterday that he acted in self defense and that the victim, Steven Wilcox, "walked into the knife" during the altercation.

Given the placement of the fatal stab wound, she said, Wilcox would have had to have been standing on his head when the fatal blow was struck.

Defense attorney Benjamin Ignacio argued to jurors that Wilcox was the aggressor that night and that he had armed himself with a set of brass knuckles found in his belongings later by police.

Keohokapu acted in self defense and did not intend to kill Wilcox, Ignacio said.
