BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Papajohns.com Bowl will be played on Jan. 2 next season.

ESPN Regional Television said Wednesday the game will be part of a tripleheader televised by the network that day including the Liberty Bowl and the Alamo Bowl.

Kickoff is 1 p.m. at Birmingham's Legion Field. The game features a team from the Southeastern Conference against one from the Big East.

The fourth-year bowl drew its best crowd last season for a matchup between Rutgers and North Carolina State. That game was played on Dec. 29.
