It's a good weekend to be Filipino. Celebrate Filipino culture and heritage with two very different events.

Have a good laugh Saturday at the fifth annual Fil-Am Comedy Jam featuring Filipino-American comics Rex Navarrete (pictured), Joey Guila and Ron Josol, and then get a real look at real life at the Doris Duke Theatre's Filipino Film Festival, that includes six box-office hits direct from the Philippines. The fest opens tonight. Make it dinner and a movie with Filipino food provided by Alonzo's Restaurant.

BATTLE OF THE BEER IS ON

The Silversun Pickups, fronted by Kailua boy Brian Aubert, is set to release its latest — and much anticipated in the navel-gazing world of indie rock — album, "Swoon." The album, which is a follow-up to 2006's "Carnavas," drops Tuesday.

GOOD MORNING, EASTER BUNNY!
